I originally got a call from Ken saying he wanted to propose to Shea and have a photographer capture the moment. In fact I have had a few calls of people asking the same thing. What an incredible place to do it. The only thing is all 3 gave me the same criteria, they wanted it to be scenic, private and with no one around. 2 of the 3 wanted it done at Lake Louise in the middle of summer with literally millions of visitors a year. My advice to all of them? No. Do not do it there. I actually know another photographer hired to do a surprise engagement photo session at Lake Louise. While there he shadowed what he thought was the couple. He followed them as they searched for a quite spot and just as soon as they found it the gentleman got down on one knee to propose. The whole time my buddy was in the woods excited to capture the surprise moment. As she said yes he emerged only to find out this was not the couple that hired him. Nice surprise right?
Back to Ken and Shea. He actually listened to me. We agreed to head to Canmore to for the surprise proposal, an area that is quite, not too many people, and perfect for what he had in mind. A day before the shoot I get word from Ken that he got too excited and already proposed!! Ha, no problem. So we all got together for an engagement shoot.
Ken and Shea are from Ft McMurray, and had, as so many others, lost everything in the fire. It was great to see them celebrating this year with the engagement. Congratulations to you two, I had a great time with you!
